The Penguins introduced another of their new players yesterday, a defenseman in search of his game. Connor Clifton was acquired last month in a trade with Buffalo. The 5-11, 195 pounder is a physical, aggressive player even though he’s smaller than most of the players he goes up against. He has struggled in his last few seasons and was a healthy scratch for the Sabres five times last season.
Clifton knows the Penguins are rebuilding, but he says there are a lot of proven veterans in the locker room and he thinks they can win again.
Clifton says he’s played with some big stars in his previous teams, especially in Boston, but now he will play with the best of the best.
Clifton says he has to be physical in order to be effective.
Clifton played five seasons with the Bruins and the last two with the Sabres.
