The Penguins introduced their biggest offseason free agent addition yesterday. Forward Anthony Mantha is coming off a knee injury that limited him to thirteen games with Calgary last season and required surgery last November. The ten-year veteran has also played for Detroit, Washington, and Vegas.
At 6-5 and 234 pounds, Mantha says he will be ready to go full speed when training camp opens in September.
Mantha says he has already talked to Kris Letang and Sidney Crosby since signing, and he looks forward to learning from them, and from Evgeni Malkin and Erick Karlsson.
Mantha knows the Penguins are in rebuilding mode, but he says any team with Crosby, Malkin, Letang, and Karlsson can be dangerous.
Mantha and the Penguins will report to training camp on September 18th.
