As the NFL preps for this coming season, the PIAA made some decisions regarding girls’ flag football.
At meetings on Wednesday, the PIAA approved the field layout, which will be 80 yards long and 40 yards wide, along with the season length, number of games, officials and equipment. Teams will start playing sanctioned games in the spring. There will be no state championships in the first sanctioned season. Instead, the first state championships will be held the weekend after Memorial Day in 2027.
