An update on the project was presented to those gathered. HCR Chief Executive Officer Corey Hessen was impressed with the number of attendees, but he said that it shows that there is pressure to deliver on the project.
Questions ranged from environmental concerns to dispelling rumors about eminent domatin. Hessen also talked about the progress being made so far. With the turbine and gas supplier contracts now in place, HCR is vetting possible businesses to occupy the AI Data center available at the energy campus, with final selection coming this fall. He called it a competitive and selective process.
Also on hand was Shawn Steffee from the Boilermakers Local 154 out of Pittsburgh and Vice President of the North Central Pennsylvania Building and Construction Trades Council. He was excited for the possibility of the number of local and union workers that will be a part of the construction of the natural gas-powered facility.
The company anticipates seven to 10,000 jobs for the construction block alone, with the first concrete to be put in place in the early part of next year.
Aftewards, those in attendance had a mixed reaction to what was presented.
Another public meeting is being discussed for August.
