Two weeks into the new fiscal year, the PA House passed a $50 billion budget outline as closed-door negotiations continue.
House bill 1330 is a budget framework that needs to be filled with other bills, which cuts $1 billion from Governor Josh Shapiro’s $51.5 billion spending plan. The bill passed 105-97 in the state house. House Appropriations Committee Republican Chairman Jim Struzzi voted against the bill, saying the bill does not have the necessary details to be considered a final product.
He also reiterated that even though the budget is over two weeks late, he wants to get the budget right.
State Representative Brian Smith also voted against the bill. It will now head to the senate for approval.
