Monday night, the Indiana School Board approved filling a vacancy on the board with Joshua Muscatello.
He was one of three candidates who submitted an application to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Dr. James Shaffer. Muscatello talked about what he looks forward to as he joins the board until December.
Cyber Charter School funding was at the focus of one of the motions approved unanimously by the board, as they authorized the law firm of Dillon, McCandless, King, Coulter and Graham, LLP to file a civil suit and declaratory judgement action against cyber charter schools. Board vice-chair Julia Trimarchi Cuccaro called the motion both crucial and historic, saying that public education is facing a crucial funding crisis.
The board also approved a motion to donate the old light poles from the high school stadium to whomever will take them in order of when the requests were received. The poles were taken down as part o the lighting upgrades at the high school campus.
