State investigators are ruling out a cybersecurity attack as a cause of the 9-1-1 outages that occurred Friday across Pennsylvania.
The state’s Emergency Management Agency says an independent review will be conducted to determine how to prevent future outages. The state’s contract provider, Comtech Telecommunications, says the full analysis of the cause will take several days to complete. The problems began on Friday afternoon when some calls that came in weren’t delivered. The issues were resolved late Friday night after several hours of work. Calls were finally making it to the proper 911 centers on Saturday, but some did lack some data like the phone number or exact location.
