S.W. Jack banged out fourteen hits and scored fourteen runs in its PA Youth Legion Region 7 Tournament opener, a 14-3 five-inning win over Young Township. The Drillers scored in all four of their offensive innings, starting with a spectacular steal of home plate by Brady Oakes, who broke for home on a catcher’s toss-back to the pitcher in the first inning, beating the throw of pitcher Noah Stewart to the dish for the game’s first run.
Shane McHugh was 3-for-3 and reached base four times, with a double, two singles, a walk, and an RBI for S.W. Jack. Jamison Miller had two hits and four RBIs, Riley George had two hits and drove in three, and Oakes and Mike Zimmerman both had two hits and two RBIS, with Oakes reaching base on two walks as well, and Zimmerman also reaching on a walk. Liam Van Leer doubled in two runs and Braden Bonatch singled in a run, and Dylan Shank and Ben Cowburn also had hits.
S.W. Jack is back in action on the second day of the tournament this afternoon at 4:15 on Renda Digital TV.
