Indiana County is preparing for the next step in the construction of the new Pathway Homeless Shelter. The county is accepting bids from architectural firms to design the facility, which will be located on a currently vacant 1.91 acre lot off Shelly Drive in White Township.
Plans are for the shelter to be approximately 12,000 square feet, with space for the future development of a separate building for ICCAP’s use. The shelter will have twenty non-congregate rooms, two of which will be handicap accessible. There will be a common area that includes laundry facilities, a kitchen and pantry, recreational/living room area, children’s playroom, and computers for seeking employment and for educational opportunities. In addition, there will be an administrative area with five offices.
The project is a partnership between Indiana County and ICCAP and block grant funding will be used to design and rehabilitate the building. Architectural proposals are due by 4:00 p.m. on July 31st.
