Sunday marks one-year since the assassination attempt of Donald Trump in Pennsylvania.
While speaking to over 15-thousand rallygoers at the Butler Farm Show grounds, a bullet was fired at the then-presidential candidate by a would-be assassin on a nearby rooftop. Trump just happened to turn his head to reference a chart, and the bullet whizzed by, grazing his ear. Trump was left with a bloody ear, but father and volunteer firefighter Corey Comperatore was killed, and three others were wounded. Shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks was killed by Secret Service agents.
Trump struck a defiant tone moments after the shooting, pumping his fists while agents got him to safety. Political pundits say that image of Trump in the immediate aftermath led to big election day gains with male voters.
President Trump says he’s satisfied with the investigation into his attempted assassination at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania almost one year ago. Trump told Fox News he’s been briefed by “multiple agencies,” and although he acknowledges the Secret Service breakdowns, he still has the utmost respect and trust in his agents. Trump added the rally was a “rough day” for the Secret Service. This week, six Secret Service agents on Trump’s detail that day were suspended.
