The Altoona Curve continues to struggle against a very tough Binghamton Rumble Ponies with a 6-3 loss Friday night. The Curve were held without a baserunner for the first four innings before the team finally broke through in the 5th, but the offense after that was only able to ring up four hits. Jase Bowen hit an RBI single in that inning and drew two walks in his other two plate appearances. Kervin Pichardo and Aaron McKeithan each drove in runs with sacrifice flies. Wilber Dotel was charged with the loss for Altoona, allowing five runs on eight hits and no walks. Dotel struck out just two and lasted 4.2 innings after a 26-pitch first inning. The series continues tonight with Valentin Linarez taking the mound for the Curve. Binghampton will start Jack Wenninger.
One member of the Altoona Curve is headed to Atlanta to take part in the MLB Futures game as part of the All-Star game festivities. Prior to the game, the team put Outfielder Esmerlyn Valdez on the Temporary Inactive List for him to take part in the exhibition game. In a corresponding move, Altoona activated catcher Wyatt Hendrie from the development list.
