No agreement has been reached yet between the Steelers and linebacker T.J. Watt. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has said that the two sides are far apart in contract negotiations, and other teams have considered possibly putting a trade offer on the table, but the Steelers have no intention of trading him. So far, Watt has been absent from offseason activities as the holdout continues. It’s unclear if he will be present at training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe. Players are to report on July 23rd with the first practice session to be held on the 24th.
One member of the Rooney family isn’t interested in paying TJ Watt. Pat joined the Palm Beach Kennel Club yesterday and said it would be “insane” to pay him anything right now. The first cousin of Art Rooney-the-Second highlighted Watt’s age of 31 despite the edge rusher not reaching that milestone until October.
