The Clymer Borough Chief of police has resigned.
Charles Waller Jr. of Indiana has given up his position as the chief of police following a domestic incident last month that turned physical. On June 18th, state police were called to the 200 block of Second Avenue in Heilwood for a 911 hang up call. When they arrived, an unnamed woman said that she and Waller got into an argument, which resulted in him pushing her to the ground and strangling her. Waller is charged with felony strangulation, harassment and simple assault. His arraignment hearing will take place on September 15th in front of Indiana County Judge Gina Force.
Taking over the helm is acting chief Adam Lewis. He was hired part-time by the department in March 2023 and was promoted to full-time in May of the same year.
