While bills have been passed to keep Pennsylvania’s government going, the 2025-26 budget is still being worked on.
Today marks the fourth day after the June 30th deadline for this fiscal year’s spending plan. State representative Jim Struzzi, Republican leader of the House Appropriations Committee says that overall spending continues to be the main sticking point, as what the Governor presented in February was, in his opinion, unrealistic.
Struzzi has offered a three-pronged approach to funding the state government, including:
- Unleashing the state’s energy industry
- Eliminating government waste
- Focusing on education for k-12 and post-graduate programs
The state house and senate return on Monday for a voting session.
