Bucs closer David Bednar has been named reliever of the month in the National League for June. Bednar had five saves and allowed no earned runs in ten appearances, with sixteen strikeouts, and four hits and three walks allowed. After early-season troubles that got him sent down to Indianapolis, Bednar is 12-for-12 in save opportunities this season with a 2.73 ERA.
The MLB trade deadline is July 31st. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports the Kansas City Royals are searching for outfielders and one player they’ve inquired about is the Pirates’ Bryan Reynolds. The 30-year-old is batting .237 with ten home runs and 45 RBIs this year.
