Altoona opens a six-game series at Chesapeake tonight, with Wilbur Dotel getting the start in the first game of the second half of the season. The Curve finished the first half with a 30-39 record that included ten shutout losses.
Expect the Pirates to start making some changes to the Curve’s roster. After Sunday’s loss, they released pitcher Fineas Del Bonta-Smith, who threw three shutout innings the day before against Richmond but had a 5.47 ERA in fifteen appearances, and infielder Imanol Vargas was also let go. He was batting .204 this season.
