Pirates catcher/first baseman Endy Rodriguez has been shut down from throwing for at least four weeks.
This came after the surgeon who performed the Tommy John surgery on his right elbow took a further look at it. This means he could be out at least eight weeks before he would be allowed to play baseball, and that could jeopardize his chances of returning to the big leagues this season. Sports Medicine director Todd Tomczyk said he could swing a bat in three weeks, but only from the left side of the plate.
