The Penguins haven’t formally announced any coaching staff additions for new head coach Dan Muse, but former Penguins forward Nick Bonino will evidently have some role with the team.
The 37-year-old Bonino officially announced his retirement as a player yesterday in a Facebook post, and said he’s been given the opportunity to coach with the Penguins. He played for HK Olimpija Ljubljanaa in Slovenia in the International Central European Hockey League last season, and re0signed with them in April.
Bonino won two Stanley Cups with the Penguins, in 2016 and 2017. In addition to two stints with the Penguins, his NHL career also included time with the Ducks, Canucks, Predators, Wild, Sharks, and Rangers.
