The Penguins introduced new coach Dan Muse yesterday, and the 23rd head coach in franchise history said he’s spent his first week on the job familiarizing himself with the city of Pittsburgh and his team.
Muse says joining the Penguins is a tremendous honor.
Muse can’t wait to get his team together on skates.
The coach says he’s talked with almost all of the players under contract with the Pens, starting with Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang.
President of hockey operations Kyle Dubas says he and Muse will be looking for the right mix of players to fit the style of hockey the Penguins want to play.
The NHL Draft is June 27th and 28th and free agency begins July 1st.
A report in The Athletic claims Mario Lemieux, Ron Burkle, and David Morehouse are considering re-acquiring their controlling interest in the Penguins, which they sold to The Fenway Group in 2021. Fenway released a statement acknowledging the report but said their “focus is on identifying a small, passive partner, and that is the current framework under discussion with potential investors.”
