From May 23rd to the 26th, troopers investigated 756 crashes across the state, with four fatal crashes reported, five people killed and another 140 injured in those crashes. Those are all decreases from 2024, when troopers reported 849 crashes, with five fatal crashes, six deaths and 164 people injured. There was an increase in the number of DUI-related crashes from last year, going from 40 to 57. Two of the fatal crashes were related to Driving Under the Influence.
519 people were arrested for DUI across the state, an increase from last year’s total of 456. State troopers also issued 7,033 speeding tickets, 977 seat belt citations, 166 tickets for child safety seat violations, and close to 19,000 other tickets.
Statistics for Troop A, which covers most of Indiana and Westmoreland Counties and all of Somerset and Cambria Counties, have not been released as of yet. The stats cover only incidents investigated by state police and do not include incidents that other law enforcement agencies reported.
