After a garage fire early Monday morning, Indiana County first responders had a relatively quiet Memorial day.
That fire was reported at 2:43 AM on East Elm Street in Homer City Borough. No injuries were reported, but the cause is not known. The structure itself was saved thanks to the quick call to 911 from the homeowner and then he went outside and tried to fight the fire with a garden hose before crews arrived.
The second fire of the day was a vehicle fire on Canoe Ridge Road in Banks Township at 3:49 PM. Rossiter and Glen Campbell fire crews were sent out at that time. At 4:11 PM Black Lick and Blairsville fire crews were called to the scene of a vehicle fire along Old William Penn Highway.
Crews are also busy this morning as Iselin/West Lebanon fire companies were called to the station at 3:56 AM for standby detail.
