A request has been made for a delay for a hearing involving the suspect in the arson at the Governor’s residence on April 13th.
The lawyer for 38-year-old Cody Balmer has made the request for the delay in his next hearing as he is undergoing mental health treatments at SCI Waymart in Wayne County. Dauphin County Chief Public Defender Mary Klatt said that everyone wants to be sure that Balmer is mentally fit when the matter goes before the court.
Balmer is facing charges of arson, attempted homicide, and other offenses for allegedly scaling a fence, evading guards and setting the fire to the Governor’s mansion using homemade Molotov Cocktails. No one was hurt, but the fire caused millions of dollars in damage. He turned himself into police after the fire, but has not officially entered a plea yet.
