PennDOT still has not released an estimate of how long it will take for the Heshbon Bridge to return to service after it was closed last week for repairs. An inspection of the bridge structure on Route 259 between Brush Valley and Route 22 in West Wheatfield Township revealed damage to a beam, prompting the immediate closure, with the agency reporting that it “will work to complete the repairs and restore traffic as quickly as possible.”
The unexpected closure adds to a busy schedule of bridge projects this summer in Indiana County.
- The Clarksburg Bridge replacement in Conemaugh Township begins June 9th, with Clarksburg Road closing until early November;
- The Yellow Creek Bridge replacement in White and Brush Valley townships will require the closure of Route 954 between Lucerne Road and Route 56 from June 9th to the end of September.
- The Green Valley Bridge replacement in Young and Armstrong townships will close McIntyre Road between Old 56 and Rearick Road from June 9th to the end of July.
Meanwhile, the nightly closures of the Route 422 eastbound off ramp and Route 286 on ramp to the 422 East Bypass will continue from 6 PM to 6 AM through June 30th in White Township.
