A man charged with arson was ordered to serve time in state prison yesterday.
Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco sentenced 30-year-old Kailum Miller of Indiana to serve two to seven years in a state correctional facility for each count of arson and four months to seven years for a charge of risking a catastrophe. The judge ordered the sentences to run concurrently. Miller set a mattress and a coat on fire with a small lighter at his apartment in the 300 block of Maple Street on February 12th, 2024. While no injuries were reported in the incident, it resulted in three people being displaced and repairs at the apartment.
Miller pleaded guilty but mentally ill to the five charges.
