The PIAA track & field championships begin today at Shippensburg University, with a number of area athletes competing, including Penns Manor’s Alex Polenick, the defending state AA discus champion and silver medalist in the shot put.
Others in the boys competition today and tomorrow include River Valley’s Brodie Forsha in the 110 hurdles; Homer-Center’s Riley Cobaugh in the 200 and 400; United’s Josef Garshnick and Marion Center’s Hayden Fox in the pole vault; Northern Cambria’s Daniel Farrell in the triple jump; United’s Aedyn Montgomery in the shot put, and United’s Jackson Wirick in the discus; Penns Manor’s Brady Lewis in the javelin; United’s 4-by-100 relay team; and the Homer-Center and United 4-by-400 relay teams.
In the girls competition, Indiana’s Gracie Reed runs in the AAA 400.
In AA, United’s Maya Ressler competes in the high jump; United’s Katlynne Miller in the discus; and Purchase Line’s McKenzie Mumau in the javelin.
