Both Team USA and Team Canada won their games yesterday in the IIHF World Championship hockey tournament, and there was a western PA flavor for both teams. Logan Cooley, who grew up in West Mifflin, scored a goal for the US in their 5-2 win over Czechia. The Penguins’ Sidney Crosby had two assists in Canada’s 5-3 win over Sweden.
With the end of pool play, both Team USA and Team Canada move into the medal round. Team USA plays Finland tomorrow in the quarterfinals and Team Canada will play Denmark.
