Wesley “Wes” Oliver Doughty, 93, of Indiana, formerly of Berwyn, Pennsylvania, passed peacefully in the arms of his wife of 70 years, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
He was born April 27, 1932, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania to the late West and Katherine (Bomberger) Doughty. He attended Penn State University and the University of Penn receiving his Masters in Education. Wes proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in France for 3 years. Wes spent his career as a biology teacher for the Lower Marion School District, as well as a wrestling coach before his retirement in 1987.
Wes loved bird watching, he was a member of the National Audubon Society, and an active member of Paoli Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed gardening, birding, canoeing, fishing, and running 5 and 10K races with his wife. Wes loved nature and proudly instilled that love with family. He enjoyed many decades of summer vacations to Ocean City New Jersey all together with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was an avid traveler and traveled to 23 countries and all across the United States with the love of his life, Nancy, whom he met when he was 17 and she was 15.
Surviving Wes is his wife Nancy J. (Rineer) Doughty, of Indiana, daughter Donna (Michael) Davis-Westwood, of Parkesburg, PA, granddaughter Amanda (Justin) Kaskan, of Indiana, grandson Greg (Haley) Davis, of Phoenixville, PA, granddaughter Brittany (Christian) Ray of Midlothian, VA, granddaughter Julie McNeil of Wyomissing, PA, and great grandchildren Wyatt and Charlotte Kaskan, Marshall and Thomas Davis, and Emma and Allison Ray.
Besides his parents, Wes is preceded in death by his daughter Diane Doughty, a brother Doug Doughty, and a sister Kathleen Shuey.
Friends will be welcomed by the family on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in the Bowser Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, where a service will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Pat Lenox officiating. Burial will follow in Cherryhill Progressive Brethren Church Cemetery, Cherryhill Township, PA.
A memorial service will be held in his home church of Paoli Presbyterian Church and announced at a later date.
