The Indiana County Commissioners Wednesday morning approved bids for part two of a hangar project at Jimmy Stewart Airport.
The project will center around the construction of a new 100 foot by 120 foot hangar for the airport that will include room for a small plane, a pilot’s office, storage room, janitor’s closet, breakroom, MEP room, bathroom with shower, conference room, mezzanine and parking lot. Francis J. Palo of Clarion was awarded the general construction contract at $2.289 million. The electrical work will be performed by Leverknight Electric from Boswell at a cost of $135,720. MARC Service of Windber will take care of the mechanical contract for $250,875 and the plumbing contract was awarded to First American of Pittsburgh for $91,900.
Planning and Development Office Executive Director Byron Staffuer said it was good to see the project enter its second phase.
Funding for the project will be through a Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant and Commonwealth Finance Authority funds.
