It was another busy day for Indiana County’s First Responders.
Among the calls yesterday were three brush fires. The first was reported at 1:20 PM on Sylvis Road in Clearfield County. The second was also a call in Clearfield County on Westover Road at 2:32 PM. Cherry Tree fire department was called out to help on both calls. The third one was at 3:07 PM on Lockvale Road in Banks Township. Plumville, Marion Center, Dayton and Rural Valley fire departments were sent out at the time. Details on the fires have not been released.
There were two structure fires reported over the last 24 hours as well. The first was at 7:29 PM on Route 56 East in East Wheatfield Township. Armagh/East Wheatfield, Clyde, Brush Valley, Seward and New Florence fire departments and West End EMS were sent to the scene. Fire officials said that lightning had struck a home’s chimney, and while there was some smoke, no fire was detected.
The other was on Route 422 West in Pine Township at 1:16 this morning. Pine, Cherryhill and Clymer Fire Departments and the Hope RIT team were dispatched at that time. It was believed to be a garage or pole barn that had caught fire, but by the time crews arrived, the building and its contents were destroyed. Crews stayed on scene to put out hot spots. No word on the cause of the fire.
