In WPIAL boys tennis quarterfinal action, Indiana fell to top seed South Park, 4-1. After losses by Gabe Nettleton at number one singles and Even Riffer at number two, number three Muhammad Abulalia put up a nearly two-hour fight in a 6-3, 6-4 loss.
Number two doubles team Andrew Grim and Micah Weigner notched their second win of the postseason, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. And it was a tough loss at number one doubles with Michael Dubetsky and Nick Lamantia falling 7-5, 6-4.
Coach Matt Neal was proud of his team. “The boys played well both days. We had seven guys on the courts, but our full roster was there supporting them and cheering them on too. Today we were remarkably close to knocking off the one-seed in the tournament. It’s been a great season, and this is such a great group of guys. They put the work in to get better, and they played like a team until the end. It’s been an absolute joy to coach them. ”
