State officials have announced that funding will be coming to Indiana County to help with flood rehabilitation and water projects.
State Senator Joe Pittman and Representatives Jim Struzzi and Brian Smith announced that $500,000 will go to Clymer borough through the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Flood Mitigation program. The borough will receive $300,000 for stream bank cleanup, while the Clymer Fire Department and Clymer Little League will each receive $100,000 for repairs to their respective facilities.
On top of that, the Indiana County Municipal Services Authority will receive $2 million in grant funds from the DCED Keystone Communities Program for the Barr Slope Emergency Waterline Extension Project. The emergency contract was awarded to Pollard Land Services after it was determined that well water was no longer sufficient for the area’s citizens. Waterline construction started in January.
