It was a tough day in Pittsburgh for coaches named Mike Sullivan. The Steelers’ senior offensive assistant’s contract expired after last season and as of yesterday he is no longer listed as part of the team. He had served four years with the Steelers.
The Steelers yesterday signed 12-year veteran wide receiver Robert Woods, the former Rams’ star who has played the last two seasons with the Houston Texans after a year with Tennessee. The 33-year-old saw limited duty with the Texans last season.
The Steelers also released veteran defensive lineman Montravius Adams. And young defensive back Ryan Watts has been released due to a neck injury suffered in last season’s preseason finale. The 23-year-old was a sixth-round draft pick last year and intends to retire. The team says it will “assist and support” Watts as he begins life after football.

Former Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson has agreed to a one-year deal with the Browns. Cleveland also says it has declined the fifth year option on quarterback Kenny Pickett, allowing him to play out his contract this season and then become a free agent.
