West Shamokin graduate Ezra Oesterling has had a dream season for Thiel College, and he’s earned both the Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year honors for the Presidents Athletic Conference. The PAC just added men’s volleyball to its sports offerings this year.
An outside hitter, the 6’3” Oesterling led Thiel to the PAC championship with a 22-6 record, finishing first in the conference in total kills (407), and aces (44), ranking second in kills per set (3.91) and fourth in hitting percentage (.283). His best performance was in the PAC championship game sweep of Grove City, when he had 16 kills and hit .652 and was named to the All-Tournament Team. He led all freshmen in the nation in any division in kills and was fifth overall in Division III and seventh in the nation.
Oesterling and Thiel will play tomorrow night against St. Joseph’s (Long Island) in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
