The Pirates and Reds are both 5-8 and in a last place tie in the National League Central heading into tonight’s opening game of a three-game series in Cincinnati.

Andrew Heaney and Carmen Mlodzinski are scheduled to pitch for the Pirates in the other two games in Cincy this weekend. It’s a short road trip, as the Pirates return to PNC Park to play the Nationals and the Guardians next week.
The Pirates have optioned rookie pitcher Thomas Harrington to Indianapolis and will make a corresponding roster move before tonight’s game.
