It was a dominant night on the mound for the Altoona Curve as they shut out Akron, 2–0, Thursday at Canal Park. Four Curve pitchers—Hunter Barco, Valentin Linarez, Justin Meis, and Cam Sanders—teamed up for the team’s first shutout of the season, allowing just three hits.
Barco impressed with four scoreless innings and five strikeouts, extending his shutout streak to eight frames this season. The bullpen held strong, with Sanders striking out four to earn the save.
At the plate, Jase Bowen and Imanol Vargas each drove in runs with sacrifice flies, both scoring Jack Brannigan. Brannigan’s now reached base in five of Altoona’s first six games.
The Curve continue their road trip Friday night in Akron with Wilber Dotel on the mound against Akron’s Austin Peterson.
