A local union leader will be at the White House today to witness President Donald Trump sign an executive order concerning the coal industry.
Shawn Steffee with the Boilermakers Local 154 out of Pittsburgh and Vice President of the North Central Pennsylvania Building and Construction Trades Council is an invited guest of the Trump Administration for the ceremony this afternoon. The executive order is expected to contain several steps to reinvigorate the coal industry across the nation. One of those points is to expand the use of mining and coal in the country to energize data centers, which are becoming more prevalent at power plant sites.
In last week’s announcement, Homer City Redevelopment said that data centers would be part of the incoming natural gas-fueled power plant at the former Homer City Generating Station.
