BASEBALL
United topped River Valley, 12-7. James Kordish and Ryan Felix each hit solo homers and Kordish and Dmitri Worthington each had three hits. Felix had two hits and Ethan Chilenski and Worthington each drove in three runs. Brendan James got his first varsity win. Sam Yanits and Gavin Burkhart each homered for River Valley.
Conemaugh Valley beat Marion Center, 8-5. Gavin Buchan had two hits, including a home run. Lance Masser and Wes Smith also had two hits for the Blue Jays. Ethan Wells had three hits for the Stingers, Noah McCoy had two hits, with a home run, and Cam Rising had two hits.
Penns Manor scored four runs in the 5th and earned its first win, 6-2 over Portage. Justin Vojtek had two hits and seven other Comets each had one. Connor James went the distance and struck out ten for the win. Easton Slanoc, Jonah Irvan, and Jordan Klein all had two hits for the Mustangs.
Carson Lobick and Hayden Leamer each had three hits and Ethan Kline, Garrett Jasper, and Anthony Swander each had two as Cambria Heights overwhelmed Purchase Line, 13-1.
SOFTBALL
Malena Stewart homered and had two hits and six RBIs, and Cameron Vandervort and Avery Elkin each had two hits as West Shamokin rolled past Conemaugh Township, 10-0. Elkin struck out 12 and gave up just one hit in the circle.
Purchase Line scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th to edge Cambria Heights, 6-5. Rylee Mahaffey had three hits for the Red Dragons and Brooklynn Walker and Bella Cessna each had two. Ellie Bender had two hits and drove in three runs for the Highlanders.
River Valley scored thirteen runs in the second inning and rumbled past United, 15-0, in three. Izabella Speal, Michaela Funyak, and Maddie Twinchek all had two hits for the Panthers.
The Marion Center Stingers shut out Conemaugh Valley 4-0 on Thursday. Gracynn Silvis had four RBI on the day. Two runs were scored on a double in the fourth inning, and she hit a two-run homer to left field in the sixth.
TRACK & FIELD
United swept Portage, with the boys winning, 114-35, and the girls taking their meet, 96-52. United also won the Junior High meet, 89-47 for the boys and 72-57 for the girls.
