BASEBALL
Homer Center’s Dom Shimko put together a complete-game five-hitter as the Wildcats topped United, 8-2. Shimko stuck out seven and walked three. Braden Dunn reached base five times and had three hits, and Shimko and Collin Dunn each with two. Shaydon Oleksa and Connor Darr each had two hits for United.
Colin Dinyar had two hits, including a homer, and Luke Weber had two hits and four RBIs as Conemaugh Township beat Purchase Line, 14-4. Wyatt Sheredy led the Red Dragons with two hits.
A six-run second inning propelled Cambria Heights to an 11-1 win over River Valley. Nolan Clawson, Bryce Lewis, Hayden Leamer, Tristan Weakland, and Anthony Swander all had two hits for the Highlanders. Caden Vresilovic had two hits for the Panthers.
Portage scored five runs in the fifth to top Marion Center, 5-1. Easton Slanoc, Jake McCoy, and Jonah Irvin all had two hits for the Mustangs and McCoy gave up one run over 6 innings. Cam Rising tripled and Noah McCoy doubled for the Stingers.
West Shamokin handed Conemaugh Valley its first loss, 11-1, as Max Long had two hits with a home run, and Braden Talmadge, Gunnar Shoop, and Luke McCullough all had two hits. Long went the distance on the mound and struck out six.
SOFTBALL
Khylee Beer hit a grand slam and Homer-Center was off and running, scoring eleven runs in the first inning on their way to a 20-0 win over United. Ava King hit a two-run shot for the Wildcats. Bekah Marshall threw a four-inning one-hit shutout and had three hits at the plate. King, Melanie George, Kaylee Booth, Taylor Rado, and Taicha Bartlebaugh all had two hits.
River Valley took out Cambria Heights, 14-6. Lillian Buckles had four hits with a home run and four RBIs. Sarah Bollinger had three hits with a homer and drove in three and Izabella Speal had three hits. For Heights, Margaret Elias had three hits and Rylee Lane, Ellie Bender, and Gina Lane each had two.
Leah Mondi had four hits and Evie Grantz had three hits, a home run, and five RBIs as West Shamokin bombed Conemaugh Valley, 18-7. Avery Elkin and Maddi Keirn each had two hits for the Wolves.
Marion Center scored seven runs in the second inning, three in the fourth, and five in the fifth to remain undefeated with a 15-0 win over Portage. (No stats provided.)
Purchase Line hammered Conemaugh Township, 17-2. Rylee Mahaffey had three hits for the Red Dragons and Brooklynn Walker, Bella Cessna, Kaitlyn Houser, and Rylee Adams all had two.
