With the Trump Administration moving forward on plans to dismantle the federal Education Department and move its functions to the individual states, River Valley School District Superintendent Philip Martell has issued a statement seeming to endorse the action, saying “ Its time to return education to local hands, where choice, competition, and opportunity can flourish.”
In an interview with Martell on Indiana in the Morning on WCCS, he says that there are states where more local control has been given, and they’ve seen increases in student data as a result.
Martell also cites the closing of Saltsburg High School, saying that those students are now getting access to the resources they need
