The Penguins held a 4-1 lead over New Jersey and were cruising toward their fourth consecutive win in the third period yesterday before the Devils scored two quick power play goals to draw within one. However, the Pens kept their cool under pressure; Erik Karlsson scored to make it a two-goal game again and the Pens then added two empty-net scores to win, 7-3.
Connor Dewar scored two goals, giving him three in the last two games, and Karlsson, Danton Heinen, Kevin Hayes, Phil Thomasino, and Rickard Rakell all added goals for the Penguins. Tristan Jarry won his fourth straight game since his recall from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, making 24 saves.
The Pens pulled to within four points of the final Wild Card slot in the Eastern Conference. They will play the New York Islanders on Tuesday.
