With daylight savings time tomorrow, the American Red Cross urges everyone to test their smoke detectors as they set their clocks back.
Over the past year, Red Cross volunteers have responded to more than 1,500 home fires across the state, assisting more than 6,000 people.
In addition to testing your detectors and replacing the batteries if needed, they also remind you to have fire alarms installed on all levels of your home, inside and outside, and to replace smoke detectors that are ten or more years old.
