The Senate Appropriations committee wrapped up their third week of hearings for Gov. Shapiro’s proposed spending plan this past Thursday.
The budget, totaling 51.5 billion dollars would increase state spending by about 7.5 percent. Although this is a large increase overall, Shapiro proposed cutting important initiatives for Pennsylvanians and their employers. Hearings included the Department of Community and Economic Development and the Department of Agriculture. The committee will use their findings to make its own spending plan, with the goal of settling on a final budget.
