The NHL trade deadline is tomorrow and Penguins president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas is already dealing, dismantling more of this year’s disappointing team in exchange for young talent for the future and a grizzled old veteran.
Dubas traded defenseman Vinny Desharnais to San Jose for a fifth round draft choice, then swung his second trade of the season with Nashville, swapping forward Michael Bunting and a fourth round draft pick to the Predators for 17-year veteran defenseman Luke Schenn and forward Tommy Novak. Novak is two years younger than Bunting and has a contract with an additional year of control and a cheaper price tag.
The Pens had yesterday off and skate tomorrow night against the Golden Knights in Las Vegas.
The trade deadline is 3 PM tomorrow afternoon.
