Charges of theft were filed against a Shelocta man in an investigation of stolen packages that went across four counties.
State police say that between February 12th to the 27th, 34-year-old John Davis Manning stole packages off of the front porches of victims in Indiana, Westmoreland, Armstrong and Allegheny Counties. In some cases, Manning posed as a DoorDash delivery driver. Manning also committed several retail thefts. A large amount of stolen items were found when police obtained a warrant and searched his house.
State police were assisted by police from Greensburg, Fox Chapel, Plum Borough and Indiana Borough, the Indiana County District Attorney’s Office and the office of the Attorney General. The state Attorney General’s office will handle the investigation.
Manning is currently being held at the Indiana County Jail on charges of organized retail theft, receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of retail theft and theft of mail. He was unable to post $150,000 bail. A preliminary hearing will be held on March 11th.
