Former Indiana County high school stars continue to grab honors as college basketball players.
Mount Aloysius sophomore forward Molly Kosmack is the Allegheny Mountain Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year and is also first-team all-conference. She was fourth in the conference in scoring, first in rebounds per game, and first in field goal percentage. Kosmack ranked 10th nationally in field goal percentage, second in the AMCC in free throw percentage, and second in blocks.
Kosmack’s Homer-Center teammate, Penn State Behrend forward Alaina Fabin is the Allegheny Mountain Conference Newcomer of the Year. A starter who had a double-double in the season’s first game with 16 points and 12 rebounds, Fabin was ninth in the AMCC in rebounds per game (7.1) and was fourth in scoring with 10.0 points per game. She ranked second in field-goal percentage (49.8) and sixth in total steals (38).
Indiana High grad Bella Antonacci is the presidents Athletic Conference newcomer of the Year after ranking first in the conference with 123 assists and 4.7 assists per game. She was Newcomer of the Week four times and overall Player of the Week once. Antonacci also ranked 14th in the PAC in scoring (11.4), 12th in rebounding (6.9), 11th in three-pointers (40) and added 32 steals as well.
Antonacci was also named honorable mention all-conference, as was her former Indiana High teammate, W&J forward Katie Kovalchick, who averaged 11.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. W&J plays a first round NCAA Division III Tournament game on Friday at Ohio Wesleyan against Messiah College.
