The Pirates’ pitching staff has taken a beating in the last three games, giving up 10 runs to the Tigers on Sunday, 12 to the Yankees on Monday, and 12 more to the Red Sox yesterday.
The Bucs lost, 12-4, to the Bosox in Andrew Heaney’s Pirates debut. The free agent lefty lasted only one-and-two-thirds innings, giving up four runs on two hits and three walks. Another of the Pirates free agents pickups, lefty Caleb Ferguson, gave up four runs on three hits and two walks in his two-and-two-thirds innings.
Ji Hwan Bae and Tsung Che-Cheng hit home runs for the Pirates. Bae had three hits.
The Pirates play the Blue Jays today, with Mitch Keller getting the start for the Bucs.
