Preliminary hearings are scheduled for Indiana County’s District Courts today, including one for a man charged with assault.
State Police have accused 56-year-old Clarence Ellsworth Shaffer Jr. with simple assault and harassment for an incident on February 3rd. That’s when police said he allegedly punched the woman in her ribs, causing some bruising. Shaffer fled the scene shortly thereafter. He was apprehended and arraigned on February 23rd.
Bail was set at $20,000. His hearing will be in front of Judge Robert Belle, Sr.
