A Seward man was sentenced Friday for charges related to a fatal crash in East Wheatfield Township in 2019.
Court documents show 30-year-old Patrick Walker will serve three-to-six years in state prison for one count of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and 72 hours to six months in state prison for a charge of driving under the influence, all of which will run concurrently, for the crash that claimed the life of 26-year-old Daniel Rodkey. Those sentences will run concurrently.
On Sept. 7, 2019, police were called to the 2100 block of Shellbark Road and found a blue Tesla Model S in a dense, wooded area with several trees damaged. A beer can was found inside the car, and there was major damage on the passenger side where Rodkey was seated.
Rodkey was found dead under one of the front wheels, and Walker was identified while receiving treatment on scene. A blood draw revealed Walker had amphetamine and alcohol in his system.
