River Valley and Penns Manor both advanced to the District 6 girls championship games in AAA and AA with semifinal wins on Monday night, and Ava Persichetti set an all-time scoring record.

Persichetti was thankful for the support of her teammates, coaches, family and fans…and one very special person.
In the championship game, River Valley will play Central Cambria, a 69-44 winner over Richland, on Friday at Mount Aloysius. River Valley coach Ric Brown says it won’t be easy, but they’ll be prepared for the Red Devils.
In the AA semifinals, Penns Manor gritted out a win over Southern Huntingdon. Todd Marino has the recap.
Penns Manor will play top seed Bishop McCort for the AA title on Thursday night at Mount Aloysius. The Crushers walloped Bellwood Antis, 58-35 last night. Comets coach Jason Miloser says playing River Valley in the Heritage Conference championship game three weeks ago will help his team get ready for Thursday night.
Thursday’s action will also include an all-Heritage Conference boys championship game between Northern Cambria and Portage.

Still looking to slot in to the state 5A playoffs, the Indiana girls return to the court tonight at Fifth Street Gym in the WPIAL seventh place game, hosting Bethel Park. Eight teams will make it into the state tournament from the WPIAL.
