More than $1.8 million in state funding will come to Indiana County for three transportation-related projects.
The Multimodal Transportation Funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority yesterday in Harrisburg. The grants are meant to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable infrastructure is available to everyone. Black Lick Township will receive $855,023 to replace and widen the Nehrig Road Bridge. Another $500,000 will go towards the widening and replacement of Martin Road Bridge in Rayne Township, and $450,000 will be used to replace a culvert on Behm Road in North Mahoning Township.
In a joint statement, State Representative Jim Struzzi said that top of the line roads and bridges are a key to helping the state economy grow, and to allow residents, emergency vehicles, transit and commerce to safely travel. Senator Joe Pittman said the projects will address deteriorating conditions and “enhance driving experiences, reduce vehicle wear and tear, and improve overall traffic flow. “
